Yungas
Andinas Regional Corridor Since fragmentation is one of the main
reasons for the biodiversity and sustainability loss, it is a matter
of intuition to think that reconnection of habitats must be an important
step in order to solve this problem.
This is the basic idea for connecting reserves by corridors or portions
of habitat in condition to link isolated islets of forest. Corridors
have been identified as important tools in the design of protected
areas, allowing the turn over and recolonization between habitats
of proper quality.
Using this concept we are following the objective of establishing
a Regional Corridor in the Andean Yungas.
Sectors of the Regional Corridor:
1. Amboró -
Tariquía (Santa Cruz - Chuquisaca - Tarija)
2. Tariquía - Baritú (Tarija - Salta)
3. Baritú - Calilegua (Salta - Jujuy)
4. Calilegua - El Rey (Jujuy - Salta)
5. Austral (Salta - Tucumán - Catamarca)
